MES Services
The Right Technology Partner
The benefits of an MES platform are many but so are the challenges to a successful implementation. The deployment of an MES solution can be complex and require a multifunctional team of subject matter experts from various disciplines and backgrounds that need to come together as one team that possesses the right knowledge and experience. The right partner can make the difference between a successful MES deployment and significant delays & cost overruns.
Xtellia’s professionals poses extensive experience executing large, multisite, and geographically diverse MES deployments and can help your organization beyond the implementation to transform your workforce culture from one driven by paper-based workflows to digital ones and thus accelerating adoption, the true measure of a successful implementation.
Consulting
To ensure the right solution and technology stack is selected for your project - our team engages at the ideation stage to gather and validate requirements, map the process "as-is", and map the process "to-be".
Requirements validation ensures that functional, technical, and regulatory requirements are confirmed to be needed to avoid unnecessary complexity and extra cost to the project.
Process mapping allows the maximization of value creation by ensuring the process is optimized taking into account the features and capabilities of a digital platform versus paper-based processes.
The MES solution design process leverages upon the the process optimization output to design a solution that best maximizes the utilization of features and capabilities a given digital platform can offer to meet user requirements and deliver maximum value. This includes a platform fitness to deliver a robust, flexible, reliable, and scalable for the given process archetype with maximum out-of-the-box functionality to minimize customizations and facilitate its lifecycle management and alignment with the product roadmap.

Design
Once requirements have been gathered and validated, and the processes mapping and optimization exercises conclude, the MES workflows and recipe design can take place.
Armed with the right platform for the given process archetype, designing the right solution is vastly simplified as the designer and solution architect have a good understanding of the digital platform's features and capabilities and how they can best be implemented to deliver the best solution possible.
Many projects failed simply because the wrong platform is selected for the process at hand, and the reminder of the project is spent customizing the product away from the vendors intended roadmap to fit a specific process. In the end, the solution is unlikely to work and if it does, it is nat flexible or scalable resulting on added maintenance cost.
The design phase must also take into consideration system interfaces and underlying frameworks and best practices. It is easy to fall into trying to solve every problem beyond the actual system requirements to deliver a fully functional and compliant solution in time and within budget.

Development
The right design is the foundation for a robust solution and a successful implementation. The development process is also greatly simplified given that the process has been optimized and the digital platform's out-of-the-box features and capabilities have been incorporated into the design process as well as system interfaces so that end solution can be built faster and with less testing of new functionality.
During the development process, the solution is optimized further by the standardization of processes and operations and the development of building blocks, recipe and workflow templates to be leveraged for a particular solution as well implementations across sites.
The development of such templates simplifies the overall solution, documentation, and validation and thus results in sustained value generation across the enterprise.
It is also of critical importance in ensuring compliance with user requirements to demonstrate the solution components to the user and stakeholders frequently and incorporate their input before finalizing the development process.

Deployment
The deployment process requires a methodical phase approach that leverages a template or equipment class approach rather than trying to implement the solution all at once. For example, group equipment by class and apply workflow and recipe templates against them - this approach enables the deployment, testing, and optimization of the template and documentation before deploying it across the rest of the equipment in scope.
This ensures a smooth and efficient deployment and validation process that shows progress and keeps stakeholders and team members motivated and engaged in the process and meets or exceeds project deliverable constraints such as schedule and budget.

Support
Regardless of the maturity level of your digital enterprise - counting with expert support from your technology partner not only through the project lifecycle but through the digital platform adoption and lifecycle management process is imperative to achieve the right balance between full time staffing resources and external partner support.
It isn't aways cost-effective to staff up for picks and valleys at the same level. Leveraging partners to help smooth staffing for the picks is a good strategy that also helps strengthen the partnership and creates continuity upon which trust is built.

Technology
We work on some of the most common MES platforms in industry. However, we are platform and vendor agnostic and will work on your platform of choice based on its suitability to your process and overall project success factors to ensure satisfaction and maximum value generation for your business.
The expertise and methodologies we employ are also vendor and platform agnostic and can be adopted universally.

Integrations
One of the ultimate goals of an MES solution is to achieve a review-by-exception Electronic Batch Record (EBR) or an Electronic Device History Record (EDHR) to expedite the release of the product being manufactured or assembled by focusing only on exceptions to the manufacturing process. To enable such a solution, the MES must interface with other systems that can provide the data needed for MES to make unattended decisions about the compliance of the process like the ERP and the automation layer on the shop floor as well as the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and the Calibration Management System.
Other system integrations can help with platform adoption to make the manufacturing execution process more user-friendly by enabling the embedding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and enforcing end-user training compliance.
We poses extensive experience integrating with other systems to build robust and flexible solutions that enable business continuity by providing exception-handling logic via basic process exceptions.
